His inspiration for this performances came from soul music from the 1960's. A lot of new artist are releasing mediocre music at the best. I thought that it was clever of him to pay homage to artist in the past, such as the temptations. Soul music combines elements from genres such as gospel music and rhythm and blues. According to the rock and roll hall of fame soul is,”music that arose out of the black experience in America through the transmylation of gospel and rythm & blues into a form of funky, secular testifying music".
This Genre of music is very vocal, and is why it fits Bruno Mars very well. He is a very good singer and his performance skills would have made him a great artist in the 1960's if he were to be alive during that era of music.
