Beyond Wonderland!!! :]

So This weekend I'm attending Beyond Wonderland which is an Electric Dance Music Festival in San Bernadino. I am so excited Because its my first Concert of 2011 :] and The Line-Up is Amazing. theres five stages that range from house, dubstep, techno, hardstyle, and other sorts of Electronic Dance Music.

Beyond Wonderland is basically themed around "Alice In Wonderland" and will host more than 40,000 people come saturday. It is located at the National Orange Show Events Center and it will be completely transformed with decor, art installations, Theatrics, and Fireworks. Oh and not to forget 5 massive themed areas with 60+ DJ's, Artist, and Performers.

The Event is run by Insomniac, the same company that has been in the news lately over one of their controversial event, The Electric Daisy Carnival, which was held last June at USC's Coliseum in downtown Los Angeles.

Well anyways heres a promo video for the event :D

RIP Nate Dogg

So on Tuesday March 15th, the hip-hop and rap community lost yet again one of there great rappers. Nate Dogg has collaborated with many artist starting in the late 80's. He was known for his chorus's on many songs from artist ranging from Eminem, Ludacris, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Warren G, Tupac, & Snoop Dogg to name a few.  Rapper Ice Cube once said in one of his songs "It must be a single if Nate Dogg sings on it," and this was so true. Every song that Nate Dogg was on was either a classic hit or a single for any artist.

Growing up in Long Beach with Warren G & Snoop Dogg allowed for the three of them to make their mark on Hip-Hop/Rap by being the founding fathers of west coast rap/Gangsta Rap/G-Funk. I know Nate dogg has influenced me along with the majority of rapers now a days.  Unfortunately He suffered from two strokes in 2007 & 2008 that left him paralyzed for quite some time. The cause of his death is unknown at this time, but it most likely had to do with those two prior strokes.

I Love so many of Nate Dogg’s song that it is really hard for me to pick one to post up, but I guess ill post this one up:

The Bloody Beetroots

Well The Bloody Beetroots started off as an electronic dance DJ's, but over the years that i have been following their career hey have transitioned into a "Hardcore Electronic" group. I have no idea what Hardcore Electronic means and I really don't like labeling genres since i love all types of music but also because certain artists are beginning to cross over and are incorporating so many new types of music into their own that the line between genres is now becoming very fuzzy.

Well anyways I got to finally see The Bloody Beetroots perform live last October and it was INTENSE!
the crowd had so much energy and since i was like at the very front i got to experience my very first mosh pit. Overall the whole vibe from the crowd and the awesome music made it a pretty dope night :)

And as usual heres a video (Oh and Tommy Lee was the guest drummer for the night)

Mayer Hawthorne

Mayer Hawthorne is a Soul recording artist out of Detroit, Michigan. He music is very Mo-Town inspired and was inspired by great artist such as Smokey Robinson and Barry White. His music is usually tagged as "retro"just as any contemporary work that sounds like it was originally recorded in the 60's or 70's.

The Great thing that I like about this artist is that he has the ability to play multiple instruments that allows him to be very creative when it comes down to produce his own tracks.  Funny thing is that Mayer has been producing and playing instruments this whole life, but has never been formally trained as a singer.

When I first heard of one of his songs I never expected it to be a 29 year old white guy from detroit to be the brains behind not only the voice, but the lyrics and instruments as well. He sort if looks like Buddy Holly in a way. Well the song that I am posting is the very same one that got me introduce to Mayer Hawthorne.  And while searching on youtube For a video with the song i came across the music video which I never knew excited until now. I must say it makes me like the song ten time better know!

ODD Future/OFWGKTA

So pretty much OFWGTA is a group of 16-19yr olds out of Los Angeles that are part of the non-mainstream rap scene on the LA. They go by Odd Future or OFWGKTA which stands for Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All.
Their name might seem a little explicit, but trust me they're lyrics are 10x worse. This isn't that typical garbage hip-hop music that they play on the radio now a days. Those " Parental Advisory: Explicit Content" stickers that they put on most CD's were meant for this group. One review of one of their members mixtape's states; "paints twisted pictures with a menacing contempt of pretty much anything and everything, but it’s done so skillfully you forget he’s a pissed off teenager". Their style reminds me of Eminem way back in the day on his Marshall Mathers LP.
This clip below is of their performance on The Jimmy Fallon Show about two weeks ago. Its kinda strange but the lyrics are really interesting and their energy is off the roof

T.Swift

Some people would be surprised by the type of music i have on my itunes.
That being said this week I'm blogging about Taylor Swift. I really think she has a lot of talent
and the thing that makes her music good is that she has a connection to all her songs.
This sort of creates a connection between her and the majority of her fan base.
I am a Kanye West fan and I think the whole VMA situation was a little messed up but IF it wasn't
for Kanye then I would have never started listening to Taylor. Thats a funny way to start listening to an artist now that I think about it.
I like all her songs I think they're pretty good for their genre.  The song that Im posting is "You Belong With Me".  So pretty much this song deal with the same thing that the rest of her songs deal with, which is basically her being a teenager that has a crush, is falling in love, or has her heartbroken.
The main reason i like this song is because she did a cool performance at the VMA's when she won an award betting Beyonce which then later lead to Kanye... well you guys know the rest.
