Funnn!

So Last nights Music Festival was pretty awesome!! Parking kind of sucked because it cost $20.
I got there at around 5 and had to wait in line to get in for an hour :( The location couldn't have been any better, it was literally next to Lake Irvine and all the music stages were in a forest type of scene.

The best part about these things is just meeting people from different parts and being united by the music. Everyone is so nice to each other except for the occasional moshpits in the dubstep stage I seen some girl punch some guy in the face. The music was pretty amazing and the bass is just incredible, you can just feel it move through your body.

I also got to witness a cool art form known as gloving or light shows which ill post a video of below.
Only Negative part was getting home. It ended around 2am, got out of the parking lot at 3AM!!!! and took me like an hour to get home.

P.S. http://fla.vor.us/groovetickets is a great site to buy tickets for events in so cal if anyones interested

Musical Festival

So I am currently getting ready to go to a music festival in Irvine right now so i thought I might as well blog about it. Its a Electric Dance Festival located near Blackstar and Irvine Lake, so it should be fun since it is basically all outdoors in a forest type of area. I am really excited to go see some artist from Europe (Showtek & DJ Isaac). I also seen that LMFAO is Going too perform but I really don't like their music.

I also read that theres a tour called "Gods Kitchen Boombox," that is going to be there. so basically its like a big stage in the shape of a Boombox that lots of artist and DJ's perform in all over the world. So since I didn't get to go to Coachella this year I might as well go to one in the area. Speaking about music festivals I bought my tickets to go to the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas in June :)

anyways heres the video of the Gods Kitchen Boombox thing

Bob Marley

Bob Marley was pretty much one of the greatest reggae artist of his time. He is know for spreading his jamaican music and also credited for bringing the Rastafarian movement to a worldwide audience. Most of his music was based upon the social issues that where happening around him at the time. He had 11 kids, a few of which followed in his path and now are currently reggae artist.

He was a strong promoter of the Rastafarian religion movement and was very outspoken on it:

  • Interviewer: "Can you tell the people what it means being a Rastafarian?"
  • Bob: "I would say to the people, Be still, and know that His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia is the Almighty. Now, the Bible seh so, Babylon newspaper seh so, and I and I the children seh so. Yunno? So I don't see how much more reveal our people want. Wha' dem want? a white God, well God come black. True true."

For this week i am going to post one of my favorite songs by him "Buffalo Soldier". This song is said to be about the african american soldiers that fought in the U.S Indian war in the late 1800's

Pumped up Kicks

So my friend showed me this song the other day and Im not really into "indie" music or whatever genre this type of music falls under, but I really enjoy it.

"Pumped up Kicks" is by Foster the People.
Foster the People is a group out of Los Angeles that formed in 2009 and thats pretty much much all that i could find online about the since they are just starting to blow up. I seem to sense a bit of retro coming through there music, meaning that theres a lot of eighties sounds which they seem to be influenced by.

The song "Pumped up Kicks" seems to have very interesting lyrics about how kids with pumped up kicks should probably run faster than his bullet......... yup pretty intense lyrics, apparently it has to do with school shooting or something. Anyways I just like the song because its pretty mellow and the type of music you can play in your car during the summer while headed to the beach or something. Oh and I am currently on youtube looking for the song to post and I just happened to find the music video for the song which i didn't know existed. Its pretty cool and it they actually kind of remind me of passion pit in a way =]

Duck Sauce!

I am really impressed by any group or artist that are able to create music from the past that might not be so "cool" now a days such as disco.

The group Duck Sauce is a group of 2 Producers/Dj's that make the sort of music that u would have heard in 70's/80's nightclubs. A-Trak makes up half of the group bringing years of musical talent to the table. He came up as a hip-hop DJ in the 1990's and during the early 2000's he worked as Kanye West DJ for most of Kanye's Performances. During these past five years he has moved towards producing House genre music. The other half of the group is Armin Van Heldeen, a well known DJ during the 1990's. Both there styles incorporate a little bit of old school disco type music with some new school house music.

I seen Duck Sauce perform last summer & the crowds reaction was crazy!
the crowd even began to sing along to the chorus of the song even though it was the first time hearing the song. Overall i just like the whole "Disco" type of music with a twist, I actually seem to enjoy it and kind of feel like going back in time to a Disco club every time i hear some of there songs.

Heres a video for one of there singles "Barbara Streisand" which is a funny song and the video is kinda like a day in their lives on tour.......

Beyond Wonderland!!! :]

So This weekend I'm attending Beyond Wonderland which is an Electric Dance Music Festival in San Bernadino. I am so excited Because its my first Concert of 2011 :] and The Line-Up is Amazing. theres five stages that range from house, dubstep, techno, hardstyle, and other sorts of Electronic Dance Music.

Beyond Wonderland is basically themed around "Alice In Wonderland" and will host more than 40,000 people come saturday. It is located at the National Orange Show Events Center and it will be completely transformed with decor, art installations, Theatrics, and Fireworks. Oh and not to forget 5 massive themed areas with 60+ DJ's, Artist, and Performers.

The Event is run by Insomniac, the same company that has been in the news lately over one of their controversial event, The Electric Daisy Carnival, which was held last June at USC's Coliseum in downtown Los Angeles.

Well anyways heres a promo video for the event :D

RIP Nate Dogg

So on Tuesday March 15th, the hip-hop and rap community lost yet again one of there great rappers. Nate Dogg has collaborated with many artist starting in the late 80's. He was known for his chorus's on many songs from artist ranging from Eminem, Ludacris, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Warren G, Tupac, & Snoop Dogg to name a few.  Rapper Ice Cube once said in one of his songs "It must be a single if Nate Dogg sings on it," and this was so true. Every song that Nate Dogg was on was either a classic hit or a single for any artist.

Growing up in Long Beach with Warren G & Snoop Dogg allowed for the three of them to make their mark on Hip-Hop/Rap by being the founding fathers of west coast rap/Gangsta Rap/G-Funk. I know Nate dogg has influenced me along with the majority of rapers now a days.  Unfortunately He suffered from two strokes in 2007 & 2008 that left him paralyzed for quite some time. The cause of his death is unknown at this time, but it most likely had to do with those two prior strokes.

I Love so many of Nate Dogg’s song that it is really hard for me to pick one to post up, but I guess ill post this one up:
