Bob Marley

Bob Marley was pretty much one of the greatest reggae artist of his time. He is know for spreading his jamaican music and also credited for bringing the Rastafarian movement to a worldwide audience. Most of his music was based upon the social issues that where happening around him at the time. He had 11 kids, a few of which followed in his path and now are currently reggae artist.

He was a strong promoter of the Rastafarian religion movement and was very outspoken on it:

  • Interviewer: "Can you tell the people what it means being a Rastafarian?"
  • Bob: "I would say to the people, Be still, and know that His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia is the Almighty. Now, the Bible seh so, Babylon newspaper seh so, and I and I the children seh so. Yunno? So I don't see how much more reveal our people want. Wha' dem want? a white God, well God come black. True true."

For this week i am going to post one of my favorite songs by him "Buffalo Soldier". This song is said to be about the african american soldiers that fought in the U.S Indian war in the late 1800's
